About Us

Lesley and Malcolm were both brought up in a suburban lifestyle. However, both developed a love of natural history: Malcolm, through the open countryside of Norfolk, while Lesley had the benefit living in close proximity to a relative who kept a menagerie of pets.

After leaving school Malcolm became Deputy Head Warden of the National Nature Reserve on Hickling Broad and Lesley went into research. Twenty or so year’s later animals brought them together; but that’s another story, best told around a campfire on safari!

In 1983 Malcolm moved his entire collection of Wildfowl to Scotland, where Lesley joined him and together they created and ran “The Argyll Wildlife Park” in Inveraray. It was a popular and successful venture putting through approx. 40,000 visitors per annum. It had twelve years of trading when, unfortunately, Lesley became ill and they sadly, had to sell, and move on

Malcolm moved to Glasgow, Southside, where he joined Glasgow City Council and took on responsibility for the Pollok herd (fold) of highland cattle in Pollok Country Park. Lesley also moved to the Park and joined the National Trust for Scotland, working as retail manager in the beautiful Georgian Pollok House, which is within the grounds of Pollok Park.

After bringing the Pollok Fold to the high standard that they are today Malcolm was awarded the Lord Provost’s medal for services to Glasgow. Promotion followed and he became Livestock Supervisor. After the “holiday of a life-time” to Tanzania in the year 2000 Lesley and Malcolm were consumed by the magic that is Africa. ” When Africa gets a hold of you, she never lets go!” Never a truer word has been spoken.

As a result, they have now travelled to Northern Tanzania for fourteen years, gathering a wealth of information about the National Parks. Along with local guides they will take you on an amazing journey into the heart of Africa: David Livingstone country.
